Who we work with to manage wildfires

CAL FIRE is responsible for fire protection in State Responsibility Areas of California totaling 31 million acres, as well as the administration of the state’s private and public forests.  

 

US Forest Service 

The US Forest Service manages and protects 154 national forests and 20 grasslands in 43 states and Puerto Rico.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs (IA) is the oldest agency of the United States Department of the Interior.  

 

National Park Service 

Since 1916, the National Park Service has been entrusted with the care of our national parks.

US Fish & Wildlife Service

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service works to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people.  

 

California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES)

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and homeland security activities within the state. 

 

California Fire Safe Council 

CFSC was formed by CAL FIRE in 1993, bringing together governmental agencies and corporations to provide education to the residents of California on the dangers and prevention of wildfires.  

 

Rural County Representatives of California 

36 member counties strong, the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) is a service organization that champions policies on behalf of California’s rural counties.
